2012 Ontario Masters Open Provincials & Novice Routine Meet Come to Oshawa
On Saturday, May 12, 2012 synchronized swimmers from across Southern Ontario will be in Oshawa for the 2012 Ontario Masters Open Provincials and Novice Routine Meet, hosted by the Durham Synchro Club and sponsored by Synchro Swim Ontario.
Novice Recreational swimmers and teams will be performing various routines set to music with solo, duet, trio and teams performing choreography they have been working on all season.
Masters teams will also be performing in various categories proving that synchronized swimming is an amazing sport that can be enjoyed by anyone at any age.
The Durham Synchro Masters team will also be featured as they prepare for the XIV FINA World Masters Aquatic Championships in Riccone, Italy in June.
The competition will be held at the Centennial Pool, Civic Recreational Complex, Oshawa, 99 Thorton Road, South. Admission at the door.

Sychro Swim Ontario Board of Directors Appointment
Synchro Swim Ontario (SSO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Durham Synchro Club Coach and Master Team member Jenilee Keslering to the position of Athlete Representative on its Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2012. This appointment to the SSO Board will be in effect for the remainder of Amy (Caskey) Bush’s current term which runs to this Fall 2012, at which time there will be a call for nominations and elections for a new two year term.
Amy (Caskey) Bush served as Athlete Representative for almost eight years and under whose leadership, SSO made great strides in athlete development and programs. Synchro Swim Ontario is exceptionally grateful to Amy for her outstanding contribution and wish her the very best in all her future endeavours.
Jenilee Keslering brings many strengths and a great passion for synchronized swimming to her new position on the SSO Board. Since the age of 10 years, Jenilee has been a competitive synchro athlete at both provincial and nationall levels, as well as a member of Team Ontario for the 2003 Canada Games Team. In addition, she has competed and managed the Queen’s University synchro team. She presently continues her passion as a synchro athlete who competes both nationally and internationally with her Master’s team who will be entering their second FINA World Master Championships in Italy (Summer 2012). Jenilee is an active volunteer with several organizations and is a Level 3 Coach, currently coaching at provincial and national levels with Durham Synchro.
Currently, Jenilee is a qualified elementary school teacher with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, having studied the impact of sport on an athlete as a whole within a female sport throughout her Honours programme, and is keenly interested in athletes’ needs and development. She has mastered organizational and time management skills and is very committed to utilize her varied background and many strengths to making a difference for Synchro Swim Ontario’s athletes.
Jenilee looks forward to applying her knowledge and experience to working with all athletes across the province and making herself fully available and representing the best interests of athletes as a Board Member.
Burning Bright for Breast Cancer Awareness

The Durham Synchro Club in conjunction with Synchro Swim Ontario and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation recently participated in the eighth annual “Burning Bright for Breast Cancer” event held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Centennial Pool, Oshawa Civic Recreational Complex in Oshawa.

This event is held throughout the various synchronized swim clubs in Ontario during Breast Cancer Month. Swimmers from DSC’s Competitive Program (Provincial and National levels) partook in a variety of activities intended to promote awareness about breast cancer. This year Durham Synchro swimmers raised $700.00 during this one day event that will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
