Durham Synchro in the Medals and on the Podium at Lisa Alexander
After capturing gold and bronze team medals at provincials and nationals earlier this year, Durham Synchro athletes pocketed individual gold and silver at the first meet of the season, held at Victor Davis Pool in Guelph on December 4.
Durham Synchro displayed its technical strength at the first meet of the season, the Lisa Alexander Figures & Testing Meet, with no fewer than five podium finishes for the Tier 3, Tier 4 and Tier 6 teams, and achievement of SuperStar 4 and 5 levels for two members of Leslie Wickens’ Tier 7 team.
Tier 3’s Stephanie Geller took the gold medal in figures at the meet, while Christa Hutton was fourth in Tier 4. Tier 6’s Katie LePage was the recipient of the Sheilagh Croxon Trophy for first place in Tier 6 figures. Teammates Julia Maclean and Brianna MacLellan also had podium finishes with second and fifth placements respectively. Congratulations to ALL Durham Synchro competitors! The Lisa Alexander Figures Meet is a key early-bird competition that kicks off the 2005 synchronized swimming season of team, duet, solo and figures meets throughout Ontario, leading to provincial and national championships in May and June.
In January, Durham Synchro will send four provincial- and national-level teams to Kitchener-Waterloo’s Wildfred Laurier University where they will compete at Provincial Trials.
