Durham Synchro in Medals for Tiers 1, 3 and Masters at Recent Meets!

Durham Synchro's two provincial level teams and the Masters took their team, duet and solo routines to the 2005 East Regional Championships at Carleton University in Ottawa and all brought home medals.

The Tier 1 team brought home a bronze medal. This team consists of swimmers Lindsay Dawson, Alycia Halyk, Kayla Hunt, Hannah Koke, Brooke Manson, Carly McCagherty, Rachel Nickerson, and Amber Steele.

Durham 's Tier 3 team, which includes swimmers from Tiers 2, 3 and 4, also took the bronze for Durham . Congratulations to Christina Bell, Stephanie Geller, Christa Hutton, Alexandra Opydo, and Ali Young. In Tier 2 figures competition, Young placed 4 th ; in Tier 3 figures, Geller won the bronze. In Tier 3 duet, Geller and Opydo also placed third. In Tier 4 duet, Bell and Hutton brought home a silver medal.

These two teams will finish their competitive year at Ontario 's Tier Championships in Waterloo this May.

In Masters competition, Tara Fowler-Agnew, Kirsten Mills, Shannon Murdock, Lori Noiles, Robyn Parashyniak, Teri Pearce, Vanessa Reeve and Joy Simon brought home the gold for Durham . Simon also took gold in solo, while Murdock and Mills won silver.

Durham's two national-level teams also competed recently at the Eastern Atlantic Divisional Challenge in Ottawa, where both teams secured top-ten placements and will move on to their national championships. In Tier 6 figures competition, Julia Maclean was on the podium in sixth place, while the duet of Katie LePage and Brianna MacLellan also placed 6 th.

This May and June, Durham Synchro will send two teams, two duets and a solo to the Canadian Open Championships in Calgary , and the Canadian Espoir Championships in Saskatoon , where they will compete against Canada 's best amateur synchronized swimmers.
