Durham Synchro Recognized for Outstanding Achievement

On Monday, November 8, 2004, Town of Whitby Mayor Marcel Brunelle presented recognition medals for outstanding achievement to the 2003/2004 Durham Synchro Club Tier 6 team.

During the 2003/2004 season, this team won a gold medal at the Provincial Championships in February, 2004, and a bronze medal at the Canadian National Synchronized Swimming Championships in May, 2004.

In Council chambers, Mayor Brunelle presented team members Jordan Anderson, Sophie Baetz-Dougan, Nicole Larocque, Katie LePage, Julia Maclean, Brianna MacLellan, Chelsey Matthews and Carrie Mouck with gold medals embossed with the Town's crest and the words “Outstanding Achievement.”

Coach Holley Lundmark and Past President Janice MacLellan also received medals in recognition of their ongoing and significant contributions to the team and to the Durham Synchro Club.

Traditionally dominated by teams from Quebec , a medal on the podium at Nationals was a superlative achievement and a testament to the ability and talent of our competitive coaches and swimmers. In individual and duet competition, this team also claimed 12 th in solo and 6 th in duet at the 2004 Nationals.
