Durham Synchro Shines at 2006 Provincial Trials Neither snow, nor slush (and there was lots) nor chilly temperatures could stop Durham Synchro from another awesome showing at Provincial Trials in Ottawa on January 20-22! Congratulations to all of our competitive swimmers who participated in this meet at the Nepean Sports Complex, and kudos to coaches Holley, Leslie, Rochelle and Sarah for doing such a fantastic job of pulling it all together for us.
In the Tier 1 – 4 figures competition, DHSC had four podium placements and ten Top Ten finishes. In Tier 1 figures, Sarah Masters, Heather Clarke, and Meagan Caulfield placed 8th , 9th and 10th respectively. In Tier 2 (12&U) figures, Ashtyn Nauffts placed 5th , and Lindsay Dawson placed 7th . In Tier 3 (12&U) figures, Rachel Nickerson and Carly McCagherty placed 4th and 9th, while Alycia Halyk was 10th . In Tier 4 (13&U) figures, Stephanie Geller took the first-place red ribbon, as did Ali Young in Tier 4 (14 & Over). Awesome! In the Tier 6 solo competition, Julia Maclean placed first and teammate Carrie Mouck placed third in a field of 21 competitors. Julia and Carrie also placed first in duet. Well done, girls! In the Tier 7 Jr. duet competition, Katie LePage and Chelsey Matthews placed 2nd , and our Tier 6/7 team also placed second. Congratulations to Christa Hutton, Katie LePage, Julia Maclean, Brianna MacLellan, Chelsey Matthews, Allie Mear, Carrie Mouck and Alaina Wade. In the first of three tryouts for 2006 Team Ontario/Canada Games 2007, Chelsey Matthews placed third, Julia Maclean placed 4th , and Katie LePage placed 8th . These athletes will move on to the second round, which will take place at Provincials in February. Go girls!
