DS Brings Home Medals From Eastern/Atlantic Divisionals
For the first time in club history, Durham Synchro's Tier 6/7 team has returned home with medals from the 2006 Eastern/Atlantic Divisionals in Quebec City .
Facing powerhouse teams from Quebec , Ontario and the Atlantic provinces that included Synchro Elite, Montreal Synchro and Alliance Synchro, our team of Christa Hutton, Katie LePage, Julia Maclean, Brianna MacLellan, Chelsey Matthews, Allie Mear, Carrie Mouck and Alaina Wade placed an amazing fourth in a field of ten Tier 7 Jr. teams with a final routine score of 79.833.
Our swimmers also placed extremely well in figures, duet and solo events at Synchro Elite's Centre Sportif Lucien-Flamand.
In Tier 6 15 & Under figures, Julia Maclean won the bronze medal in a field of 145 competitors. Brianna MacLellan placed 13th , and Carrie Mouck was 15th . These finishes placed the girls 1st , fifth and seventh in Ontario .
In Tier 7 Jr. figure competition, Katie LePage was 23rd (8th in Ontario ), and Chelsey Matthews placed 25th (10th in Ontario ). Christa Hutton was 67th (23rd in Ontario ), and Alaina Wade was 69th (24th in Ontario ) in a field of 92 competitors.
In Tier 6 15 & Under duet competition, Julia Maclean and Carrie Mouck won the silver medal in a field of 21 competitors and will compete at the 2006 Espoir Championships this June at Etobicoke Olympium. Congratulations, girls!
In Tier 7 Jr. duet competition, Katie LePage and Chelsey Matthews qualified for finals and then finished tenth in a field of 22 duets. Their top-ten finish qualifies them to compete at the Canadian Open Championships in Winnipeg , Manitoba , this May.
In Tier 6 15 & Under solo competition, Julia Maclean, Brianna MacLellan and Carrie Mouck had excellent results, placing 6th , 8th and 14th in preliminary routine competition, in a field of 25 competitors. In the finals, Julia took the bronze medal and moves on to Nationals, while Brianna placed 12th .
Congratulations to Tier 6/7 and coach Leslie Wickens, who accompanied the girls to Quebec and did a fantastic job of coaching team, figures, duet and solo, while Holley Lundmark enjoys her time at home with Brody. Thank you, Leslie! Thanks also go to Rochelle Fernandez and Sarah Rowe, who also pitched in to support Tier 6/7 during Holley's maternity leave.
