Durham Digs For Gold, Silver and Bronze at 2007 Provincials!

Congratulations to our Tier 6 and Tier 7 Jr. athletes, who competed this past weekend at the 2007 Provincial Championships at Etobicoke Olympium and brought back a load of medals and ribbons! With 13 podium and top-ten finishes in team, duet, solo and figures, this was a tremendously successful meet for all of our swimmers and their coaches, Leslie Wickens and Holley Lundmark.

In Tier 7 Jr. team competition, Durham took the silver medal. Congratulations to: Stephanie Geller, Jessica Henry, Katie LePage, Julia Maclean, Brianna MacLellan, Chelsey Matthews, and Alaina Wade.

In Tier 6 (15&U) team competition, Linday Dawson, Alycia Halyk, Hannah Koke, Brooke Manson, Carly McCagherty, Rachel Nickerson, Alexandra Opydo, and Amber Steele swam to a fourth-place finish.  

In Tier 7 Jr. duet, Katie LePage and Chelsey Matthews earned gold along with the title of Provincial Champions. They will also compete their duet for Ontario at the 2007 Canada Winter Games later this month. Good luck, girls!

In Tier 6 (15&U) duet, Stephanie Geller and Jessica Henry placed fourth, and Brooke Manson and Carly McCagherty placed 7th .

In solo, Durham added three more podium finishes to their collection, with Tier 7's Julia Maclean placing 3rd   and teammate Brianna MacLellan coming 4th . In Tier 6 (15&U) solo competition, Jessica Henry's “tango” routine earned her the bronze medal!

In Tier 7 Jr. figures competition, Durham athletes took half the podium spots, with Julia Maclean, Katie LePage and Chelsey Matthews finishing 3rd , 4th and 5th respectively, with Brianna MacLellan in 10th place.  In Tier 6 (15&U) figures, Jessica Henry finished 9th .

In the All-Round Swimmer category, Katie LePage and Julia Maclean tied for 3rd , Chelsey Matthews placed 5th , and Brianna MacLellan placed 10th for Tier 7. In Tier 6 (15&U), Jessica Henry placed 8th , Carly McCagherty was 13th , and Brooke Manson
