Durham Brings Home Smiles and Podium Results from Tier Championships!

Our four competitive teams in Tiers 1 through 3 have returned from the 2007 Tier Championships in Nepean , Ontario with improved figures and routine scores in many cases, as well as some podium results!

Tier 6's Alycia Halyk and Rachel Nickerson also competed in figures and duet. Alycia won the gold medal in figures, and Rachel brought home the silver. In duet, the girls were first in routine and won the gold medal in championships. Rachel also placed second in routine for solo, and won gold in championships. Congratulations, Alycia and Rachel!  

Team

In Tier 1 team competition, Coach Robyn Parashyniak's team of Kaitlin Bishop, Emma Campbell, Wenjing Deng, Meg Grylis, Madison Kitchener, and Amanda Lawrence placed 9th out of 14 teams.

In Tier 2 team competition, Durham teams had their work cut out for them as they competed in a field of no fewer than 30 teams. Coach Teri Pearce's team of Meagan Caulfield, Katrina Clissold, Lindsay Evelyn, Katie Gagnon, Julia Thornton, Vanessa Trajanos, and Kionna Whyte placed 10 th in the finals (3 rd in prelim). Coach Rochelle Fernandez' team of Shannon Blaney, Julia Ehrt, Lindsay Farrell, Ellen Hamilton, Logan Kitchener, Brittany Michaud, Ellen Ritchie, and Taylor Summers placed 14th in prelims.

In Tier 3 team competition, Coach Sarah Rowe's team of Carly Byberg, Heather Clarke, Francesca DiPietro, Emily Harris, Sarah Masters and Ashtyn Nauffts placed 12th out of 14 teams.

“Although the girls had hoped to place higher in team, they were really excited to see that our routine score did increase, as did their individual figures scores. There was a great improvement for everyone compared to East Regionals,” Sarah says.

In Tier 1, Durham 's Wenjing Deng placed first out of 84 swimmers. Congratulations, Wenjing, on your achievement!

In Tier 2 (12&U), Katie Gagnon placed 7th out of 116 swimmers, while in Tier 2 (13&O), Brittany Michaud placed 2nd out of 87 swimmers.

In Tier 3 (12&U), Heather Clarke placed 13th , while in 13&O, Ashtyn Nauffts placed 50th .
