Durham Teams on Podium Again at East Regional Meet

Tier One Silver Medalists McKenzie Broad, Emma Campbell, Kristyn Davies, Meg Grylls, Elizabeth Kozak, Samantha Low and Reyanne Padgett, show that Tinkerbell means business!

The Durham Synchronized Swim Club was once again represented on the podium at every level at the Eastern Regional Meet held in Ottawa Feb 29- March 2. Our up and coming Tier One, Two and Three teams are having an outstanding year as they continue to grow in confidence and improve their skills with each meet.

The Tier One team of McKenzie Broad, Emma Campbell, Kristyn Davies, Meg Grylls, Elizabeth Kozak, Samantha Low and Reyanne Padgett, under coach Katie LePage, took the Silver medal. Meg Grylls and Emma Campbell finished an impressive first and second in Tier One figures. Congratulations to all of the girls on a strong showing.

The Tier Two’s, coached by Rochelle Fernandez, finished in 5 th place overall in team. Excellent figure results from Wenjing Deng (3), Megan Caulfield (4) earned these girls a second trip to the podium! Bravo to the entire team of Kaitlin Bishop, Meagan Caulfield, Wenjing Deng, Madison Kitchener, Tyerra Lowe, Sara Thompson and Sarah Walsh.

Sarah Rowe’s Tier Three’s finished 2 nd in team earning them a well-deserved Silver medal and a birth in the Ontario/Quebec Cup in April. Also qualifying for that upcoming meet was the duet of Julia Thornton & Brooke Stevens, coached by Rochelle Fernendez, who won Silver. The winning ways continued with Amber Mealing, who placed first in 12 &U figures, Brooke Stevens who placed third and Julia Thornton who placed fourth in 13 &O figures. The entire team of Shannon Blaney, Julia Ehrt, Lindsay Farrell, Ellen Hamilton, Amber Mealing, Ellen Ritchie, Brooke Stevens and Julia Thornton is to be congratulated on a stellar year so far.

The Tier Six swimmers who competed in duets and solos were not to be outdone either!

Hannah Koke captured 2 nd in solo and Lindsay Dawson finished 4 th. The duet of Kionna Whyte & Sarah Masters finished in 4 th, while Brooke Manson & Carly McCagherty and Logan Kitchener and Brittany Michaud joined them on the podium in 5 th and 6 th place.
