Provincial Trials: A Cause for Celebration for Durham Synchro

In the first full meet of the year for the 2008-2009 season, Durham Synchro scored top marks in figures and wowed the judges with their routines!
The outstanding Tier 7 team routine, coached by Holley Lundmark, was a crowd pleaser and judge favourite capturing first place! Swimmers Stephanie Geller, Alycia Halyk, Jessica Henry, Julia Maclean, Brianna MacLellan, Brooke Manson, Carrie Mouck, and Rachel Nickerson, were in synch and at the top of their game. The story of the meet was certainly Julia Maclean’s successes both individually and in duet and team. Her first place Tier 7 figures result was followed up with another first place finish in solo, and a second in duet with Carrie Mouck to go with her first place for team! Also on the podium for their strong figures results were Brianna MacLellan (5) and Carrie Mouck (6) in Tier 7 and Rachel Nickerson (5) in Tier 6 competition.
Brianna MacLellan (3rd), Carrie Mouck (5th) and Jessica Henry (6th) all joined Julia on the podium for Tier 7 solos. Rachel Nickerson’s solo placed 4th in Tier 6, adding to her and Alycia Halyk’s 2nd in Tier 6 duet. Heather Clarke and Sarah Masters debuted their duet routine to place 11th. In their first Tier 7 duet competition, Stephanie Geller and Jessica Henry impressed the judges to earn them a podium worthy 5th place.
Jenny Burgess’ Tier 7 team swam a strong routine to finish 6th in team. Swimmers Francesca DiPietro, Hannah Koke, Carly McCagherty, Brittany Michaud, Alexandra Opydo and Berkley-Anne Soderstrom were sizzling in their sassy Chicago-inspired routine.
The Tier 6 national team under Taya Amundson swam their Cirque de Soleil routine well to achieve a 5th place result. Swimmers Carly Byberg, Heather Clarke, Lindsay Dawson, Katie Gagnon, Ashtyn Nauffts, Sarah Masters, Venessa Trajanos and Kionna Whyte are off to a great start this season.
The Tier 6 provincial swimmers, some of whom were swimming in their first full meet, turned in a strong effort to finish 11th. Jennilee Keslering coached swimmers Emma Campbell, Kristyn Davies, Meg Grylls, Tyerra Lowe, Caroline Ristow and Sarah Thompson and Sarah Walsh in a charming Mary Poppins themed routine.
