Eastern/Atlantic Divisional Championships 2009

The 2009 Eastern/ Atlantic Divisionals were held in Etibicoke in Mid-March. The highly competitive field including a strong contingent from Quebec, pushed our Durham girls to do their very best.
In Tier 7 figures competition, three swimmers accomplished top 20 results (Jessica Henry in 20th, Carrie Mouck in 13th) with Julia Maclean capturing a 4th place podium finish. Julia repeated her 4th place finish in the T7 Jr. Solo Finals, while Jessica Henry finished 13th, Brianna MacLellan finished 15th and Carrie Mouck finished 16th in the solo prelims. The duet of Julia Maclean and Carrie Mouck captured 4th place and Jessica Henry and Stephanie Geller captured 10th place, continuing their amazing run as new T7 swimmers.
In T7 team competition, Debbie Sands’ team of Francesca DiPietro, Hannah Koke, Carly McCagherty, Brittany Michaud, Alex Opydo, and Berkley Soderstrom finished 9th place in the finals. Stephanie Geller, Alycia Halyk, Jessica Henry, Julia Maclean, Brianna MacLellan, Brooke Manson, Carrie Mouck, and Rachel Nickerson, under coach Holley Lundmark finished 5th overall.
In T6 duet competition, Heather Clarke and Sarah Masters finished 27th in the preliminary round while Alycia Halyk and Rachel Nickerson went on to capture 8th place in the finals. Rachel finished 17th in the T6 solo prelims in an exceptionally strong field of competitors.
Top 50 figures results in T6 were turned in by Rachel Nickerson (16th), Alycia Halyk (30th) and Francesca DiPietro (43rd). Taya Amundson’s T6 team of Carly Byberg, Heather Clarke, Lindsay Dawson, Katherine Gagnon, Sarah Masters, Ashtyn Nauffts, Venessa Trajanos, Kionna Whyte, finished off the event with a 10th place Championship finish.
