Results are in at Espoir!

A group of 10 determined Durham athletes made their way to London from June 3-6 to compete in the 2009 Espoir Canadian National Synchronized Swimming Championships where the group met some stiff competition from across the country.
Top 100 individual figures results were turned in by Rachel Nickerson (26th qualifying her for National Team Try-outs!), Alycia Halyk (40th ) and Kionna Whyte (63rd). Rachel swam her La Vie en Rose solo (coached by Leslie Wickens) to 24th place in prelims. In duet competition, the duo of Heather Clarke and Sarah Masters (coached by Debbie Soderstrom) finished 36th in preliminaries while Rachel and Alycia’s duet, under Head Coach Holley Lundmark, claimed 12th place, qualifying them to pre-swim in the Finals.
Our T6 15 & Unders drew first in preliminaries and wound up the year in 14th place in the nation. The girls kept it classy with a postitive attitude and true sportsmanship in the face of disappointment. Congratulations go to Carly Byberg, Heather Clarke, Lindsay Dawson, Katie Gagnon, Sarah Masters, Ashtyn Nauffts, Venessa Trajanos, Kionna Whyte, Coach Taya Amundson and our mostly silent associate team member, Maliya.
Congratulations to all of our T6 Durham athletes and stay tuned to see what the Synchro scene holds for all of these talented girls next year.
