Tier Championships – A Terrific End to the Season for Durham Swimmers

Tier Championships held in Ottawa May 21-24 was cause for celebration for many of our Durham Swimmers.  Individual Figures competition resulted in Podium finishes for 7 of our athletes. From Tier 3, 13&Over, Julia Ehrt (6th place) Ellen Hamilton (5th), Amber Mealing (3rd ) and Shannon Blaney (2nd ) ended their season on a high note. Reyanne Padgett also claimed a 6th place podium spot for the Tier 2 12&Under category. A huge congratulations goes out to Wenjing Deng (Tier 3 12&Under) and Laura Walsh (Tier 1) who both won gold in their prospective competitions!

Durham’s Tier 1 team finished their season11th in preliminary competition. Swimmers Andrea Beekman, Brooke Campbell, Nieve Iannarelli, Elizabeth Kozak, Samantha Low, Madelyn Minaret and Laura Walsh under Coach Michele Lopers are to be congratulated for their hard work throughout the year.

Coach Amy McPherson’s team of MacKenzie Broad, Stephanie Dalgleish, Rachel Enright, Samantha Gurrieri, Nicole Milligan, Reyanne Padgett, Nicole Rayment and Samantha Weima wound up their season in 10th place after Provincial Finals. Well done, Ladies!

Jenilee Keslering coached her Tier 6 Provincial team to a 5th place finish. A strong effort was turned in all year from team members, Emma Campbell, Kristyn Davies, Meg Grylls, Tyerra Lowe, Caroline Ristow, Sarah Thompson and Sarah Walsh.

The Tier 3 / 4 Team under the leadership of Coach Sarah Rowe swam to a fitting finish for a strong season! The team claimed 2nd place in finals after placing first in preliminaries. This talented group of Shannon Blaney, Meagan Caulfield, Wenjing Deng, Julia Ehrt, Ellen Hamilton, Amber Mealing, Ellen Ritchie, Brooke Stevens and Julia Thornton has been a force to reckon with all year long! Ellen Hamilton and Julia Ehrt also took 2nd  place with their beautiful duet! Bravo for these well-deserved honours!
