OWG East Regionals Competition 2010

This year the OWG East Trials were held on January 22, 2010 at the Nepean Sportsplex. This event occurs every two years so this was DSSC’s time to shine in the spotlight. Under the tutelage of Head Coach Holley Lundmark with assistant coach Julia Maclean and coach Jenilee Keslering our 13-15 Year Old division and National teams represented the Durham Synchronized Swimming Club with strength and pride.

With sharply pointed toes and graceful limbs, Laura Walsh (coaches Holley Lundmark and Julia Maclean) started off the round of first place finishes in Figures (11-12 year old category). Leading the round of first place finishes Sarah Masters and Heather Clarke (coach Jenilee) tied for first place in Figures (13-15 year old division). Latest results for Figures (13-15 year old) saw the following swim away with some respectable rankings – Kionna Whyte (3), Lindsay Dawson (4), Katherine Gagnon (5), Kristyn Davies (6), Amber Mealing (7), Wenjing Deng (8), Ellen Hamilton (9),  Julia Erht (10), Reyanne Padgett (12), Meg Grylls (13), Tyerra Lowe (16), Emma Campbell (17 tie), Sara Thompson (17 tie) out of 38 competitors.

Scooping up top rankings in Team Finals (13-15 year old division) coaches Holley Lundmark with assistant coach Julia Maclean (1) and Jenilee Keslering (2) proudly watched as their young prodigies accepted their awards beating the Gloucester and Kawartha Trent clubs. Shine in the spotlight these two teams did as both qualified to compete at the Ontario Winter Games to be held in Bracebridge, ON, March 4-7, 2010. Congratulations to all of these dedicated young women who showed their competition that Durham Synchro is not a club to be taken lightly.
