C'est manifique ! National Teams Cover the Leader Board in 2010 Eastern Divisional Championships, Quebec City

While some young people were whiling away their days on sunny beaches during the
March Break, the national athletes from Durham Synchro were braving the chilly weather
in picturesque Quebec City. Swimmers from DSSC attended the 2010 Eastern Divisional Championships from March 11-14, 2010 held at the Lucien Flamand Pool. The weather may have been brisk outside but the tropical climate of the indoor pool complex reflected
the excitement and anxiety of the many synchronized swimmers in attendance. The national teams coached by Head Coach Holley Nickerson (Tier 7) with assistant coach Julia Maclean (Tier 6) and coaches Jenilee Keslering (Tier 6)  and Taya Amundson (Tier 6 Open) returned home with results spanning the top end of the leader boards.

Team members competed in solo, duet and team categories in addition to Figures. Staying true to form, the duet team of Carrie Mouck and Julia Maclean took the top spot in the Tier 7 Sr., Duet Free Routine category. Swimming as a soloist, Julia Maclean received second place in the Tier 7 Sr., Solo Technical Final category. The dynamic duo of Alycia Halyk and Rachel Nickerson achieved an impressive fifth place in the Tier 6, 15 & Under Duet Finals Championships category. Taking sixth spot in Tier 7 Jr. Team Championships Finals, the junior national team stayed consistent with preliminary scores.

Competing against hundreds of other competitors from across Canada, DSSC’s athletes held their own while competing in an unfamiliar pool a long way from home. As usual, these young women proudly represented Durham Synchro honourably. Congratulations to all!
