Durham Synchro Club Recreational Swimmers are Stars!

Durham Synchro athletes swam to success at the Synchro Swim Ontario Novice (Recreational) Figures Meet held at Trent University (Peterborough, ON) on March 5, 2011. Of the 27 Durham Recreational Program swimmers that participated in this meet, an incredible 14 achieved podium results ranking them amongst the top six in multiple divisions. Included amongst these showings were three first place finishes - Megan Gomes (6 Year Old Category), Rachel Lall (9 Year Old Category) and Selina Lall (12 Year Old Category), one second place – Lindsay Evelyn (13-15 Yr. Old Category) and three third place results – Abby Westlake (6 Year Old Category), Sarah Misisaszerk (7 Year Old Category) and Cassidy Murray (13-15 Yr. Old Category). These outstanding achievements are the result of determination and hard work on the part of these athletes and their coaches.

Continuing with the amazing results the following swimmers demonstrated fantastic skill and patience with each figure and should be extremely proud of their showings.

DSC’s well trained Recreational coaching staff spent many weeks in preparation for this competition. Their dedication resulted in great success at this initial meet. Coaches Cathy Veldhoen-Smith, Hannah Koke, Brooke Manson, Alex Opydo, Katie Gagnon, Rachel Nickerson, Berkley Soderstrom, Carly Byberg and Heather Clarke and their outstanding swimmers displayed talent and sportsmanship exceeding expectations and represented Durham Synchro with pride. All eyes will be focused on these amazing athletes as they prepare for the Synchro Swim Ontario Novice (Recreational) Championships Routine Meet to be held on May 7, 2011 at Trent University.
