Program Options & Class Descriptions / Class Options and Locations

Traditionally Recreational Program classes have been held in pools in
Oshawa, Whitby and Pickering.

DSC Recreational Program runs in 30 week sessions with a focus on developing synchronized swimming fundamentals. Every nineth class will be a Trillium Testing Day. Special report cards will be sent to parents/guardians advising of swimmer's progress during program. Recreational Program students participate in an annual Water Show featuring Recreational and Competitive swimmers including those from the Provincial and National teams.

*For the new Januray 2012 sessions, Monday classes will have the full 15 sessions.

NEW January 2012 Recreational Program *

Classes begin week of January 16, 2012

March Break 2012 runs from March 12-18, 2012.
No classes scheduled Friday, March 9, 2012 of March Break. There will be regular classes scheduled on Friday, March 16, 2012.

Classes will be canceled during the following dates
February 20, 2012 (Family Day)
April 6 - April 9, 2012 (Easter)
May 18 - 20, 2012 (Victoria Day Weekend)

Introduction to Synchro (15 week program) $225.00

For swimmers NEW to synchronized swimming
Introduction to synchronized swimming for beginners who are comfortable in the pool with some swimming skills
1.5 hours per week

Tuesday 7:00 - 8:30 PM Eastview Boys & Girls Club (Oshawa)
Thursday 6:30 - 8:00 PM Eastview Boys & Girls Club (Oshawa)
Friday 6:00 - 7:30 PM Dunbarton Indoor Pool (Pickering)
Saturday 1:00 - 2:30 PM Iroquois Park Sport Centre (Whitby)

SEPTEMBER 2011 - MAY 2012 Recreational Programs

Introduction to Synchro (30 week program) $450.00/year

Equivalent to Aqua Quest Level 4 swimming skills OR swimmers who are back to work on Trillium Levels 1, 2 or 3
For swimmers NEW to synchronized swimming
Introduction to synchronized swimming for beginners who are comfortable in the pool with some swimming skills
1.5 hours per week

10 & Under Novice Trillium (Sept.-May) $1000.00 - $1300.00/year

For swimmers 10 years old and under
Introductory course for swimmers
Train with NCCP qualified coach
Work on Trillium Levels
2 classes/week = 4 hours per week

12 & Under Novice Trillium (Sept.-May) $2000.00 - $2200.00/year

For swimmers 12 years old and under
Must have completed 1 year of synchro at Recreational Level
Train with NCCP qualified coach
Work on Trillium Levels
3 classes/week = 6 hours per week

Synchro Teens (30 week program) $450.00/year

Introductory course for swimmers ages 12-17 years NEW to synchro looking to have fun with other girls their age
1.5 hour class per week

Advanced Rec Synchro (30 weeks) $900.00/year

For swimmers who are over 12 years old
Work on Trillium Levels 6-10
2 classes/week = 3 hours/week

Adult Synchrofit (10 week program)

Cardio fitness regimen for adults looking for something different to add to their fitness routine
1 hour class per week

** Proof of Aqua Quest may be required upon registration.
All synchro fees include winter party and year end banquet.
Photos included for swimmers who register for 2 or more sessions.

Swimmer's Equipment (Required)

Bathing caps mandatory (Swimmers must wear bathing cap in pool for all lessons and events)
Swim goggles
Nose clips (may be purchased through DSC or through sporting goods stores)
One piece bathing suits (polyester recommended because they are more durable)
All swimmers receive complimentary DSC club cap at their first lesson

ADDITIONAL COSTS

Routine suit and hair gelling necessities (elastics, pins, gelatin) to be worn at DSC annual Water Show
May include headpiece or hair accessory

* Durham Synchro reserves the right to change times, dates and locations of classes in the event of a pool closure or insufficient registration.

** During the regular season if classes are cancelled we will attempt to make them up at your regular pool location. If this is not possible, we will reschedule at the most convenient time and place available.
