How do I gel my child’s hair for competitions?

My child is interested in a competitive team, what do we do?

Team placements are held in June each year, for the following season. Following the team placement event, your daughter will receive an email from the Club’s Head Coach inviting her onto a team.

What age group will my child compete in?

Ages, where applicable, shall be as of December 31 of the year in which the competition is held. For example, if your child’s birthday is in October, they are turning 11, they compete in the 11/12 age group in that season (Sept – June). If your child’s birthday is in February and they are turning 9, they will compete in the 9/10 age group that season (Sept – June).

What equipment will my child need to do synchro?

Recreational: Cap (1 provided by Durham Synchro), goggles, nose clip and full-piece bathing suit.

Competitive: Cap (1 provided by Durham Synchro), goggles, nose clips, full-piece bathing suit, team spacing suit, team bag, team track suit, team shorts and shirt, weight belt, and tubing available through the club. Also required is a 20L collapsible water jug available at camping stores and Canadian Tire.

Where can I purchase nose clips, caps and suits for practice?

Nose clips, caps and goggles can be purchased from our equipment manager. Extra full-piece suits or other equipment can be purchased from Team Aquatics Supplies LTD located at Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, Scarborough. Please let them know you are a member of the Durham Artistic Swimming Club and show your discount “Shark Card”. Shark Cards are available for competitive swimmers only from our equipment manager.
